just wondering if any one out there in the UK have come across this before ...last October i was invited to take part in a tractor run in aid of bloke that has had the big c ...he collects for a charity for cancer and has had other fund raising events with old cars and bus's and had no worries ..but this was cancelled at the last hour because some one in formed the hosting group that it was illegal to have such a event ...reasons being a they weren't a registered charity but it goes to registered charity ..and that most of the tractors were old working farm tractors so the insurance would not cover us for such events .we had to be on white diesel and could not be in no more then groups of 6 and had to set off 10min apart ...there was over 60 of us going ...!!!..so any help on this would be greatly appreciated

We, that is the South Hams Vintage Machinery Club, run a couple of road runs each year, usually around 40 tractors. As far as we know there is no restriction as long as the tractors have the correct insurance and are showing a current tax disc and are road legal as far as construction regs are concerned.
Most Vintage insurance policies cover the tractor for organised road runs. general farm tractor policies would need checking.
We are not a charity but we are a limited company that runs to raise money for charities and other causes.

There's a lot of road runs this side of the water, and as long as the driver signs a form stating that the machine is insured, thats it. Of course we also have to apply to the Parades commision for permission, ( this being N Ireland) . We had a run in with customs & excise a few years ago, about using red diesel , but there was such a kick up and when we showed them how much all the clubs in the North were raising for charity they have'nt botherd us since.

Buy DVD Online says hello to all of TV fans!

Have to be careful doing tractor runs ok as if insurance man knew you were using your tractor for non agriculture use, your insurance could be void. if you use it for like a wedding party or a Debs be same non agriculture

oh thats true if you saw that debs program on tv lately a young lad wanted use a big jd and the garage that supply it the owner drove them said he had on a demo run

ya they didn't really show that the seat is small for a debs dress and didn't show where the lad was but point was that even though the lad was old enough to drive the tractor they couldn't get insurance for showing off

Be very impressive pulling up at the dance in a big Zetor Crystal with your girl compared to the kids coming with their dad.
