8540 fuse box

I'm trying to help my dad , he is having trouble with the fusebox on his 8540 .. fuses are not blown and they seem secure but lights keep going off on the right hand side , four wheel drive and others .. if he moves them a little it works again but he is afraid one day this won't work at all .. the question at the moment is there a safe way to clean around the contacts ? Or is he wasting his time by trying this ?

Are the fuses corroded in the holders, you take them out one by one and use a bit of medium sandpaper to clean both ends and maybe the holder too. If they are even big loose or missing you could always use a piece of silver paper. But this would not be very health and safety
