i am preparing to purchase Zetor model 5245 possibly 1985 year....all wheel drive.. any special considerations or watch out fors??

Make sure that new master brake&clutch Cylinders are fitted (Fragokov instead of the older PAL ones), there's no play on the water pump bearings, the shifting lever isn't worn out, the rubber fuel hoses arent leaking, and that the piston rings are sealing.

To replace mentioned parts, totals about 500 Euro.
For the piston rings on the older ones, just letting them work hard will seat them.
Ours was never used and used a liter of oil per day, when we got it at 3700 hrs. When it is doing the work of a 80 hp tractor, the rings will seat, and oil consumption will drop to allmost zero, at 5100 hrs.

These tractors realy need to work to keep in good condition, or they will use lots of oil. With this 3 tonne 4wd body, it is usually not hard to get that little 3 pot to work...
