    Hydraulic pump 8540

Thanks for your quick reply Diy farmer. I really don't know why the lever flicked over. I'll have to investigate how to bleed the pump. I'm hoping the pump isn't ruined. Perhaps someone will reply with a remedy Thanks again.

    Hydraulic pump 8540

Hi everyone. I'm having problems with the hydraulic pump on my 8540. I was using a shredder and the the lever at the pump has jumped from the 'O' position to the '1' position and hydraulic fluid poured out of the pump. I stopped the tractor and returned the lever to the 'O' position. Filled...

Hi I have found the parts from O/S easy to source and they are about a third the cost of here in Oz. Even with the high cost of postage.

Sorry I've taken so long to acknowledge your reply. I've been out of the country. The 8540 goes very well so I'll look around for a four furrow reversible plough kind regards Mike

    Ploughing

I have an 8540 and would like to know if would pull a mounted four furrow reversable plough. We have heavy country and usually plough about 12 inches deep. I don't have any experience with these types of ploughs and would be interested to hear from anyone that uses them Regards Mike

    Engaging PTO

I have an 8540 and have recently put a new Tierre mulcher behind it. It works beautifully but I'm having difficulty engaging the PTO. On engaging the switch on the dash the mulcher nearly stalls the tractor until the mulcher gets up speed. Is there a way of avioding this situation? Can you...

    Tierre Mulcher

I've just bought a 2 metre heavey duty mulcher. It doesn't have any slip clutch on it. The machinery bloke said that belts would slip before a break on the tractor gear box. I'm thinking of fitting a slip clutch to the pto shaft. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this matter...

    Starting 8540

Hi everyone! I'm having difficulty starting my 8540 of late. I guess the cold weather here isn't helping matters. I have to whip the starter motor over a long time before she fires up. Once going it goes really well. I'm wondering it it is glow plugs or perhaps air in the fuel lines. Can...

    8540

Hi Mike! Thanks for the reply. The tractor has 5 couplings on the back. I've used one set for the rams to open and close the bale chamber and that seems to work fine. I have used one of the the other set for a single acting ram that raises the pick up tines. It all seems to work well. The...

    8540

Hi everyone! I have an 8540 that I've hitched up to my 5 x 5 round Baler. The Baler has three hydraulic lines. Two to open and close the back door to discharge the wrapped bale and the other single line to adjust the height of the pick up. Does anyone know what adjustments if any to the...

    8540 Data

Hi everone! Having a great time reading all of the very interesting topics on the site. I'm glad to be a member. Can anyone tell me what the Drawbar Horse Power, the PTO Horsepower and the compression reading should be for the 8540 tractor. Thanks, Mike from the land of OZ.
