I recently had a problem with my 6045 not starting. I thought it was a faulty lift pump so I replaced it with a new pump & new fuel filters. After bleeding the injectors I got it to start eventually but the it is very slow to respond to the throttle control. Could this be an issue with the Injector pump?
 
Hello Jex,
It could be the injector pump regulator. When was the oil in the pump and regulator last changed or at least checked?
If there is a lack of oil, the regulator can move with difficulty (and also wear out).

At full throttle does it maintain the speed or does it sag?
 
Thankyou. Where is the regulator situated and how is the oil checked / changed? It maintains the revs but when the throttle is dropped back to idle, it slowly responds and almost stops unless I increase it again.

On the back of the injection pump. When my 3011 leaks injection pump oil into the sump and runs dry, it doesnt run smooth at high idle on the road: it starts to talk like ta-ta-ta because the goveror overcompensates when it doesnt move freely, it either gives a lot of fuel or it shuts fuel off to maintain rpm within regulated margin, meaning every time only one cylinder gets fuel and the others dont when its their turn.
 
Is the starter cranking the engine slower than it used to? If so, put the handle for the hydraulic pump and PTO in neutral to exclude a problem in the hydraulics or PTO.
Does it have white or black smoke?
 
Finally have time to have another go at getting the old girl going again before the summer starts in Oz. I still have had no luck in getting it to start. Checked oil levels in the pump and the starter spins over fast enough. I don't seem to be getting any fuel at the injectors so I assume the injector pump is RS. Does anyone have a current injector pump part number for a replacement pump. This is the part number on its tag.

Thankyou Joachim, I'm in Australia so repair could be an issue here. I contacted Zetor in CZ regarding a replacement pump 2 weeks ago by email but they have not replied?
What is the function of the " Fuel adding device ZS10-969" on the front of the pump? I was wondering if I could utilise that to get it started.
 
Zetor tractors a.s. doesnt sells injection pumps for such an old tractor.
But you can contact Marting.sk in slowakia - they have this pumps as new spar part for sell if you need.

What you mean is probably the fuel pump, which sucks the diesel out of the tank and pushes it through the filter to the injection pump.
The hand feed pump and the pre-filter sight glass are screwed onto this. The hand feed pump is used to pre-pump the diesel after repairs or service, such as for venting.

You should make pictures from parts you have questions about - this helps us to answer best possible.

When removing the.injector pump, do any procedures need to be followed to ensure the timing is correct.when reinstalling. According to the workshop manual there is no timing process mentioned other than Mark the position of the case where it bolts to the compressor ?

Thats correct.
But of course you can still make a fine adjustment using a capillary tube on the first cylinder. This is usually described in the workshop manual.

This is the cold start button. Set the hand throttle to full throttle and press the button until it clicks into place. Then start and take your foot off the gas - done.

When the button is pressed, a little more diesel is injected so that it starts more easily in cold outside temperatures.

Newer injection pumps (from Zetor 5211 up to 7245 and newer ones) no longer have the button; they have an automatic cold start, so you no longer have to press a button.
