5211 pto stuck

1 have been working on 5211 first engine then clutch now the pto.removed transmisson top also hydrauliac lift top.removed bolts in rear of pto shaft pulled bearing out until gear for pump hit back of gear housing. manual shows hollow shaft with gear on back end front end has shifter fork.my guestion is should the back pto shaft pull out of the shaft with the gear that drives pump.i cant get it to move acts like its stuck.has 540+1000 rpm pto.pto and lift worked couldnt select lift only pto still turned.. thanks for any help i get. jim

You can pull the PTO shaft out to the back, the sleeve shaft that drives the pump will drop to the bottom.

thanks for reply Renze thats my problem the pto shaft is stuck in sleeve. cant pull it out.i will try to make a puller with bolts to pull it out. thanks jim
