  3. 6245 - whats it worth?

Hello all. I have a 1985 Zetor 6245. 4wd, front end loader, pto, 62hp engine, 3pt hitch. I am considering selling it. It has a knocking sound in the engine but the oil and oil pressure is good. A mechanic looked at it and said it could be a simple fix, or a costly one. He wouldnt know...

  5. 6245 stuck in reverse

hello again friends. So yesterday I used my tractor and everything was fine. Today I go to use it and it is always in reverse. When the shift is in neutral, the tractor goes in reverse. I cannot shift to 1st or Reverse, but I can shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, but the tractor will not...

Ok I have made more progress with changing all the oils. Now for the clutch and brake oil. I know I need to open the bleeder on the slave cylinder. I know I need to do the same by the brake lines. Please look at the pics. Do they show the correct bleeders by the brake lines? If so, they...
  8. 5211 Zetor engine oil filter

The Oil filter on my 6245 (should be the same on your tractor) has a large flat-head bolt on top. simply unscrew that and the whole thing will come off. Now take out the metal filter, separate the top half from the bottom half, clean with diesel, and put back together. It is very easy. youll...

thanks gunnar. Please look at this pic: http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg107/robbiehct/IMG_0364Copy.jpg?t=1367251273 So I fill the radiator with coolant to about that arrow, then start the tractor and let idle for a while. Then top up with more coolant to that arrow?
  11. 6245 help with oils

Thank you yet again:) I didn't have time today to do everything, but I got a great start on changing some of the oils. For the engine coolant, should I drain the old coolant first then add? I'm sure it hasnt been done in a long time. If so, where does it drain from? When adding, how do I...
  12. 6245 help with oils

For Clutch & Brake fluid - i know how to bleed the clutch slave cylinder, but where do I look for the bleed valves where the brake lines go in? Is this under the tractor? Or do I open the hood and look there? For Power Steering - where do I look forthe pipe under the pump?
  13. 6245 help with oils

Thank you both. Since I don't know when this tractor was last serviced, should I drain the clutch & brake and power steering fluids first? If so, where do they drain from? Also, by 50/50 for the coolant, do you mean mix with water?
  14. 6245 help with oils

Thanks again guys! You're all helping me very much!!! I think I only have a few more questions. I need to know where the drain and fills are for the clutch, brake, and power steering. Also, where do I add engine coolant? What type should I use and how much? You're all great for getting me...
  15. 6245 help with oils

Renze - I'm a little confused. So could I just go ahead and use 80w90 for the Rear Final Drives? Or are you saying I should use 10w30? What type of oil should I use for Power Steering? Haze - I don't know exactly when the Hydraulic/Trans oil was last changed. This was my Dad's tractor but...
  16. 6245 help with oils

Thank you both for the replies. I have 15w40 tractor engine oil for the engine. But for the hydraulic and trans oil I was told to get HyTran oil, which is a universal oil. I was told in my 6245 it is the same for both the hydraulics and transmission. Sounds like you guys are telling me the...
  17. 6245 help with oils

Thank you for the reply. This is a great start. I see on the outside of the front tires, there are 2 bolts (plugs) . I think one is for filling and the other is the drain. It looks like oil goes right into the wheel. Is this the front planetary or the front diff? Also, do the hydraulics...
  18. 6245 help with oils

hey guys. back again with yet another question about my 6245 I inherited last year. Spring is finally here and I would like to change the oils in my tractor, as well as add grease to the grease fittings. I have a chart for all the grease fittings. My question is about the oils. Basically, I...
  19. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Thank you both. I'm beginning to understand it now. So right now the small lever is down (pointing forward) and the front bucket works fine. So let's say I hook a bush hog to the back of the tractor and want to use it to cut a field. In what order would I activate it?
  20. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Thank you. I am in upstate NY and this has been kind of a long winter this year. Come this Spring, and I'll be taking care of these issues. So thanks again to all who have been helping. I actually had to take care of the clutch again (it lost pressure, so I had to bleed air from the slave...
  21. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Thanks again guys. The tractor does this other thing where when I let off the clutch, it takes a couple of seconds before it drives. Like a delay. That makes it tricky for the "delicate" work. Do you think this is related?
  22. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Thank you both for the reply. If I decide to just replace it with a new one, is the part in the link I posted the correct part? And is it hard to replace it?
  23. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Thanks for the replies. I am not a mechanic in any way at all, so how hard is it to swap master cylinders? I have friends who are mechanics, just wondering what I would be getting them into. lol Found this...
  24. 6245 Clutch - have to pump

Hey guys...back again with another question.:p My 6245 has a hydraulic clutch. Seems like every other month, you have to pump the clutch pedal a few times to get the tractor to disengage, or else it won't stop. This has been happening for years (back when it was my father's tractor). It'll...
