  1. tricks for loosening p.s. ball joints on 5211

Take the nuts off and jack up the threaded part of the ball joint then whack the casing with a big hammer . It should come out then.
  2. 5711 brakes?

It wouldn't be the hand brake band catching rather than the shoes would it?
  3. Converting 5718 to 4WD with 5748 a front axle

Damn! Sorry bout that. Just as well there's people on here that know what they're talking about:'( I have a 35 45 , shouldn't assume that they are the same. Ho Hum..
  4. Converting 5718 to 4WD with 5748 a front axle

I believe that your last and prefered option is easily do-able. The transfer box from the gear box to the front wheels is basically bolted on to the bottom of the gear box. The engaging lever comes through the floor to the cab. The 2 wheel drive tractor will have a plate bolted on instead. Take...

    Hmmm. Thats a no then?
  6. Tractor rebuild books

I'm looking for a book about renovation / rebuilding old tractors. I have ordered up the 5711 workshop manual but as I'm a bit of an amature I find them a bit technical.( I've got one for my 3545) So a general tractor mechanics book. Anyone any suggestions?

  10. 3545 zetor stuck in gear and wont move

Could reverse and 3/4 be engaged at the same time. Something like that happened to mine when driving along. It broke teeth off of the gears wheels. One of my shift forks was broken allowing it to go in to more than one gear. Poor tractor is still sitting in the yard, I havn't the where with all...
  11. zetor 5718

Hi I was lucky with this one. I went to the local zetor dealer and he looked in his sales for 1971 and found that he'd sold it new and he gave me a letter for the dvla to that effect. I don't know how you could find out other wise though. Nikki.
  12. what are your main farming tractors?

I have a wee 35/45 that I love very much! ( is this possible/ normal/ legal?) Had her for years cos she'll go anywhere. And then a 57/11 I got recently for running about on the roads as the 35 is so slow. Not that the 57 is really fast or anything but it's better for towing trailers cos of it's...
  13. 57/11 PTO clutch

When I lift the PTO "handbrake" it should stop the PTO and hydraulics? And if it should where should I look to fix it? Coz mine doesn't.
  14. 7745 new head gaskets now setting valve play

Done it! Some of them were a bit out.
  15. 7745 new head gaskets now setting valve play

Doh! I should have adjusted the valves on the cylinder that "squirts" not the one that "rocks"!??? ::) Fliping heck I'll do it again tommorow. It still sounded wrong when I took it out after "fixing it" Tough old machines these zetors! Perhaps there could be a new section in the forum called...
  16. 7745 new head gaskets now setting valve play

So When 1+2 injector squirts then go to 7+8 and jiggle the fly wheel back or forward a bit to get the gap on one valve,, adjust it and then jiggle it again to get the gap on the other valve to adjust it then? That's what I've just done anyway I'll start her up now when this rain passes and see...
  17. 7745 new head gaskets now setting valve play

Thanks Bjarn I'll give it a go. Nikki
  18. 7745 new head gaskets now setting valve play

Can someone plaese make a bit more sense of this coz I want to set the play on my 57/11.When the exhaust valve is fully open can you set the intake valve on the same cylindert? Ands vice versa. It,s a different method than what is described above but like the OP I don't really know much about...
  19. hello hi new Zetor 6718 owner

Is the handbrake band too tight or binding? If it's the same as a 57/11 then there will be an adjuster nut (2 nuts infact as one is a lock nut) on the band. The band is on the brake drum down at the left/ right hand side of the seat. Loosen the nuts (17mm I think) and it may stop them heating...
  20. 5211 boil over

    Head gasket?
  21. 57/11 Injection pump lube.

Ah, now, there is two plugs at the bottom of the pump. The top one is the level then? I was thinking that it should be full of oil to the top!
  22. 57/11 Injection pump lube.

I've just went to change the oil in my injection pump but it was basically empty of oil. I filled it up and noticed that the oil is leaking out from where the throttle lever goes in to the pump. Anyone know how to change the seal? Can I just unscrew the two screws behind and get to the seal like...

I seem to have the same problem on my 57/11. Not a great deal but it does leak out which is annoying, Anyone know why?
  25. brake adjustment on 57/11

Thanks they are fine now both come on together perfect. I had the master cylinders push rod adjusted out a bit too much but now it's good. Back on the road!
  26. brake adjustment on 57/11

Yes I changed both master cylinders and then one side slave cylinder and shoes now I'm about to change the other side slave and shoes. I just ordered the parts of my Zetor dealer so I don't know the part numbers. But your saying that they should be self adjusting?
  27. brake adjustment on 57/11

I changed the brake shoes on one side of my 57/11 now the brake pedal has to go all the way down for this side to work. I think because the shoes are returning way back from the drum. How are they adjusted? Can they be? It's definately not air in the pipes.

  29. 5711, no first gear.

    Result! Glad it's sorted.
  30. 5711, no first gear.

It could possible be the detent rod is ok in the neutral or reverse slot but won't push into the first position. 1st and reverse are on the same gear shift stirrup in the gearbox the detent rod is what moves it into gear, there are 3 slots on the top of it to hold it in to the selected gear (or...
