Mark, Try Brady's (now main zetor dealers) in Ballinasloe. They have a field of old zetors, including crystals, they may have a straight second hand one there. John
  2. Zetor 5718

I have a 1972 5718 and think its a very good model. The condition of the brakes should be one of the first things to check if you are buying one - replacing the slave cylinders can be a difficult job without the right tools. Checkout the steering rod ends for any excessive play -these may need...
  3. question Zetor 5211 won't move

Looking at an operators manual it states every 100 hours but that may be a bit excessive. If you are in dusty conditions then you may need to attend to it regularly. How it works - when the clutch is operated the release bearing assembly slides forward along the transmission shaft and presses up...
  4. question Zetor 5211 won't move

Open the red cap and and pour in some universal/engine oil approx. 50ml to ensure that the resevoir sponge retains enough to last a while. Try using a syringe as it is difficult to get access to tilt an oil can. This will ensure that the release bearing springs back properly when the clutch is...
  5. question Zetor 5211 won't move

Could it be that the clutch release bearing is sticking? Not sure if its the same on a 5211 but on the older versions theres a small red cap(like the top of a washing up liquid bottle) on an inspection plate beside the steering controls underneath the cab. This feeds along a tube to a sponge to...

  7. Blue Zetor?

..and I thought that Valmet were the first to provide colour options - That was a very customer-focused option by Zetor for its time:).
  8. Blue Zetor?

Renze, Why were some of the olders zetors painted blue like this one? http://www.farmphoto.com/photography/message.asp?dsply=all&mid=102898&gkp= John
  9. Zetor 5748

Chris, What are the symtoms that leads you to think the cylinder heads are damaged???. Can you physically see cracks:o. If it is water leaking out from between the heads when the tractor is running, it maybe simply that one of the frost expansion plugs have popped out during a cold spell if...
  10. Zetor 5748

    Correct;)
  11. Zetor 5748

I guess a middle ground lubricant would be fine for the UK where there aren't the same extremes in temperatures experienced elsewhere. I believe the ratings are based on viscosity levels - I will check the spec. on the last drum I used to give you a better idea.;)
  12. Zetor 5748

Hi Chris, Your 5748 is in pretty good shape:D- it seems to have all its body panels intact. Engine oil SAE 30 (summer) - SAE 10 (Winter) is recommended. See attached link for painting ideas - I resprayed this 5718 in the new colours;D...
