  2. 5211 thermostat housing and temp sending unit question

While replacing the water pump, hoses, thermostat and housing, temp sending unit and fuel line that feeds the injectors on my 5211....I removed the radiator, hoses and all the usual parts....in addition to the exhaust manifold etc. It took several days to acquire all the parts and while putting...
  3. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Hi Mike and Forterra11441, Thanks to both of you....I'll clamp the return line and see if I can find the leak.... and go from there. I hear the fuel tank filler cap can "go bad"....is there supposed to be a vent in it...or does the complete system need to be air tight? Take care, Don
  4. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

My 5211 now runs very well....stopping and restarting within a few minutes is no problem, but sometimes when I stop for 15 to 20 minutes and try to restart....acts like it's not getting fuel. This afternoon I bled the screw on the injector pump and primed the heck out of it and finally got it...

  7. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Hi Rob, The rubber fuel line hoses I used are 5/16" ID and fit well onto the soldered tubes coming from the fuel tank. My next move was to go to an electric fuel pump as you did....but didn't have to after all. One of the hoses I replaced looks like an original woven type hose...couldn't see...
  8. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post...I just wanted to bring you up to date....and maybe it will help some some guys like me in the future. When I dropped the fuel tank, I found that one of the fuel lines was indeed in bad shape. I cleaned out the tank and replaced both...

Yes!!! Very helpful to me and allows me to not bother you guys as much as I did in the beginning...Thanks :) Don
  10. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Yes...it helps. Any past experiences with problem solving I hear about...adds to my working knowledge and possible fixes for my particular situation. I know there is a hole in the floor of the tractor (under the rubber mat) where I think you should be able to reach the fuel tank pipes and hose...
  11. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Thanks guys for all the good info. I want to give you an update on current status. After days on the side of the rocky hill trying everything suggested plus....I finally bypassed the two lines going to the gas tank with a gallon can of fuel hanging on the deck. I was able to get the air out of...
  12. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Hi Mike You were correct again....some sort of trash that did look like an insect.....thought for sure it would now prime and start....but no. I don't want to bother you any more right now.....I'll keep trying to find something amiss and ask for help again if I'm completely ready to give up. I...
  13. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Hi guys After my last post....I was finally able to get my 5211 started after replacing the single fuel filter and fuel bowl strainer....then bleeding air at the injector box. After doing some work today..it gradually begain to get harder to start each time I parked it. Then it failed to...
  14. 5211...Does this sound like a lift pump problem ?

Hi Mike I feel stupid for not starting with the "basics" and appreciate you getting me back on the right path. The filters were really nasty...and I think were the main problem. After bleeding air out of the system, I was finally able to get her moved from the side of the hill to the barn. I...
