How tight is the rollpin connecting the pto lever to its shaft ? When they get sloppy you often get lost in the gear positions.
Replace with new rollpin filled with another rollpin, or simply tap a 3 inch nail in it, thats about the right diameter
Crawl gears only combine with 1000rpm PTO because it borrows a gear from the PTO. 540/1000 pto and shuttle dont combine.
The gearbox also has a different casting number, so crawl gear conversion entails some machining, and possibly more.
When the plates stick while the pedal is down, and the slave cylinder does extend, start it in 1st gear with the clutch pedal pressed in and tied to a tree.
In broad lines it will fit. But when i put the loader of our home farms 5245 on my 5718 i found the length difference different than the 120mm i measured from the engine block so i had to drill new holes.

On the back of the injection pump. When my 3011 leaks injection pump oil into the sump and runs dry, it doesnt run smooth at high idle on the road: it starts to talk like ta-ta-ta because the goveror overcompensates when it doesnt move freely, it either gives a lot of fuel or it shuts fuel off...
Leave the PTO and hand brake in place, their bowden cables have enough room when you pull the seat up towards the steering wheel and tie it with baler twine.
But, if no implement is attached, try if you can get them to lower by standing on the lift arms, or try what happens if you manually...
