Are you sure it's the alternator and not the integrated voltage regulator? The regulator on my 3340 went out last year and the local starter/alternator shop fixed it immediately. I don't remember the price but it was in the $75 range I think.

I think the battery +12v cable goes directly to the starter. check the connection at the starter.

Hello and welcome. You say the tractor makes a 'noise' when in reverse. Could you give more detail? What does the noise sound like? Clunking, banging, screaming, singing off key ;D etc... If you do buy the tractor, keep this site handy. The guys here are great at helping with any problems...

I think some connection is suspicious, probably close to the battery. Have you checked the ground connections, both at the battery and the frame?

Oh, don't forget to pull the key out when you're done!

A couple other things... push the throttle lever all the way up when you are starting. After it starts, pull the lever down to get the engine speed you want. To stop it, pull the throttle lever all the way down. I had all the same questions on my 3340!

Are you sure the hole is in the transmission and not in the clutch housing? I don't think I'd plug it. It's probably just as you're thinking and is there to keep fluid from building up on the clutch.

I don't think there's much to adjust. It's a hydraulic clutch mechanism that uses fluid from the brake reservoir. There's a little bit of adjustment at the clutch pedal and nothing else. Oh, make sure to grease the shaft going in to the clutch itself. A zerk fitting is 'hiding' down there...
