Hello You should never touch the handle on the floor when your turning on or off the PTO. Leave the handle in the 540 place and only use the lever beside the steering wheel. If the shaft keeps turning after your have been working it and the tractor is hot, then you'd got a problem. It's either...
Firstly I have to say, I don't know what a 8040 is? But that seems a strange move to buy a tractor that goes backwards by 18 years.
I had a 8245 in the past, the clutch has 2 master cylinders that presses in the clutch, did bleed them?
1. The lift cylinder under the lift cover is leaking oil and the rings need changing that's why the lift goes down by itself.
2. The brakes might need adjusting or else the brake drums need replacement, also check your ok for brake fluid.
3. Check there is a good level of power steering oil in...
Have you the lever on the floor between your legs in correct position? Also when you bring the lift lever in the cab to the top, did you try lifting the lift arms yourself to see if they are stuck.
If the lift is constantly going down and re-lifting by itself when you weight on the lift, the rings in the lift cylinder need replacing which is under the lift cover, under the floor behind the seat.
Put the hydraulic lever in P position, if it keeps dropping and lifting by itself you could have a leak in the lift cylinder and has only shown up from the heavier weight.
Your tractor can't produce downward pressure, the arms fall of their own accord. So leaving tracks is a result of your narrow skids and poor ground conditions, and holding up the topper would not good for the tractor nor the topper.
If it's a side mounted topper, try lengthening the top link so...
Has that tractor got air working the splitters? like all them models if so, the air is leaking out and putting it into high. The tractor is in high all the time and the air splitters reduce the speed when pressed.
Re. the compressor picture, the compressor works for pumping tyres only when the hose is connected to the threaded piece and the middle part is pressed in. You will need something to blank off the outlet where it goes to the tank, then you turn on the compressor you will have pressure.
Putting a different pump into it may not improve the lightest of the steering, you could try that still be much the same also you can fit a more modern filter and new oil in the tank, you may also need oil in the distributor. Sometimes it improves if you fit a new coil in the distributor or...
