clutch for Zetor 5211
  Started at Tue Apr 12 03:11:13 2005
I need a new clutch to my Zetor 5211 tractor. My PTO is not running properly. Gears are always grinding. How much does it cost to get a new clutch? Where do I find parts? What all do I need to get someone to fix it? HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Just bought a farm and the tractor came with it for a small fee. But the fee seems to be getting BIGGER.
Thank you,Stephanie

Hi

Firstly DONT PANIC! It might not be so bad wink

Can you explain the problem with the PTO more?

Also, remember that tractors don't always have synchromesh gearboxes (like cars do). At least, my Zetor 6945 has a non-synchromesh gearbox, and I suspect that yours is the same.

In this case some crunching and grinding is normal, unless you double-declutch.

If I'm doing field work, I usually just set off in the gear that I'm going to need. If I'm transporting something on the road, I'll need to change gear but only between fourth and fifth.

Technical details of double-declutching later if you need; I have to dash now, horses to feed...

What clutch do you use for the PTO ?? Did you know that the lever next to the hand brake is the PTO clutch ??

Next, you might want to adjust the bowden cable of the clutch PTO before splitting the tractor

1967 Zetor 3011, technically new, needs paint
1973 Zetor 5718, repainted and shiny, rebuilding it bit by bit

I'll echo Renze, Stephanie - the lever on your left side, the one nearest you, (as you're sitting in the seat) is the clutch lever for the PTO. You must have it pulled up enough to disengage, then shift the left lever at your feet into gear, and slowly lower the lever back down.

On another note - there is a fluid spout underneath the floorboard that supplies lubrication to the main clutch. If the tractor has been sitting for awhile, you need to add some fluid. A medium-sized syringe will help.
